Environment and Waste Solutions

Educating children about the importance of waste in environment and encouraging them to not litter needs to go hand in hand with the establishment of local waste infrastructure, in order to give practical solutions on how to manage waste.

In many low-middle income developing countries waste infrastructure is still minimal. In Indonesia, 45% of the population lives in rural communities spread out over more than 17,000 islands and establishing waste infrastructure in these remote regions and communities is a challenge. Most villages are located beyond the reach of the urban waste collection systems. In addition, many communities are situated along rivers, which provide them with water. Littering in rivers can becommon and riverine waste is one of the major sources of ocean pollution.
